A record setting year for the Grayson Viking Softball team has led to nine players continuing their playing careers at four year universities.
1B Sophie Jenkins - Troy University. Jenkins was a two year starter for the Vikings, and after a solid freshman season (.297, 7 HR and 34 RBI) she had a breakout sophomore season. She hit .438 with 30 home runs and 108 RBI. Her home run and RBI total are both single season school records, and were second in the nation. Jenkins had several standout games; two eight RBI games; one against San Jacinto College-South and one against Hill. A seven RBI game against Hill, and had three games of six RBI (Cisco twice, and Ranger). Jenkins also set a school record with four home runs in a game against Hill in March. Her breakout season netted her a plethora of honors: NTJCAC 1st Team All-Conference, All-Region 5 North, NTJCAC Offensive Player of the Year, NFCA NJCAA Division I Midwest Region First Team, NFCA 2nd Team All-American and NJCAA 1st Team All-American.
INF/OF Layne Reh - UT-Tyler. Reh was another two year starter for the Vikings. As a freshman, she played all over the diamond; spending time in the corner outfield, in the infield at second base and also saw time in the circle at the end of the season. As a sophomore, she predominately roamed the outfield. The definition of durable, Reh never missed a game; appearing in all 118 Grayson College Softball games across two seasons. As a freshman, she hit .391 with six home runs and 41 RBI, while displaying her speed with five triples and 28 stolen bases. She followed with a .409 batting average with nine home runs and 71 RBI with three triples and 24 stolen bases her sophomore season. Reh had a season high four RBI in four games this year, and had a season high two home runs in a Feb. 25 win over Tyler. Reh has left her mark in the record books: she is tied for third in single season triples (5), second in career triples (8), second in career stolen bases (52), second in career hits (153), third in single season runs scored (76) and is top 10 in single season stolen bases, single season hits,
OF Abby Wood - Southern Nazarene University. Wood was a two year starter for the Vikings. She appeared in 45 games as a freshman, and played in all 63 games as a sophomore. As a sophomore, she was a force at the plate, tallying 72 hits and driving in 57 RBI, while hitting .416. She put forth a career high four hits and seven RBI in a March win over third ranked McLennan. With her Viking career drawn to a close, Wood ranks in the top 10 in school history in career batting average (.379), single season doubles (18) and career doubles (28). Her sophomore season numbers netted her NTJCAC 2nd Team All-Conference Honors.
RHP Delilah Robles - University of Missouri-Kansas City. Robles was a transfer student, and played one season for the Vikings. Robles appeared in 35 games, making 31 starts. She finished 23-5, tossing seven complete games. Her season put her in the Grayson College record books. Robles 1.00 Walks-hits per inning pitched (WHIP) is a school record. Her 1.33 ERA is also a single season school record. She is top 10 in school history in innings pitched (136.1), and strikeouts (115). To add to her impressive season, she tossed a perfect game against Ranger, which earned her NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week honors. Her season netted her NTJCAC 1st Team All-Conference, All-Region 5 North, NFCA NJCAA Division I Midwest Region First Team, NFCA 2nd Team All-American and NJCAA 3rd Team All-American.
C Monica Franklin - University of Missouri-Kansas City. Franklin was also a transfer student, and played one season for the Vikings. She appeared in 21 games a season ago, hit .333 with a home run, and three RBI. She displayed her speed, stealing four bases. Her home run came against Hill to help the Vikings to a big win. Franklin was essential in the bullpen, getting the pitchers warmed up and ready to go.
3B Daeya Moses - University of Tulsa. Moses was a two year starter for the Vikings, appearing in all but one game in her two seasons. As a freshman, she hit .335 with 17 home runs and 78 RBI, and earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors. Her sophomore season was just as impressive, hitting .337 with 12 home runs and 66 RBI. Moses is the career walks leader in Grayson College history, amassing 67 free passes. Out of her many highlights, Moses drove in five runs in a win against Dodge City, then did it again a month later in a win against Hill. She homered in back-to-back games in wins over Blinn and Dodge City in February, then did it again in two April wins over No. 11 Temple. Now that her Grayson College career has ended, she is top 10 in school history in career home runs (29), career hits (117) , third in single season RBI (78), third in career runs scored (146) and second in career RBI (144).
RHP Macey Jones - UT-Tyler. Jones was a two year starter for the Viking Softball team. As a freshman, she appeared in 29 games, making two starts. She finished 10-4 with a 3.78 ERA, recording 64 strikeouts in 70.1 innings pitched. As a sophomore, she made 25 appearances, making 24 starts. She finished 15-4 with a 2.40 ERA, recording 68 strikeouts in 90.1 innings pitched. Jones tossed a combined perfect game in a 7-0 win over NCTC in April, and recorded a Grayson College career high eight strikeouts in a win over Trinidad State College in her first start of the 2025 season. Jones 2025 season netted her NTJCAC 2nd Team All-Conference Honors, and was an NTJCAC Conference Player of the Week selection in 2024. She is top 10 in school history in career ERA (3.01), single season ERA (2.41) and career strikeouts (132)
RHP JJ Williams - Southern Nazarene University. Williams pitched the 2024 season for the Vikings, before an injury cost her the 2025 season. In 2024, she appeared in 38 games, making 32 starts. She finished 17-9 with a 4.11 ERA in 161.2 innings of work. She threw nearly every inning down the stretch, when the injury bug hit the pitching staff. She surpassed her 100th strikeout in a win over Temple in the Region V Tournament. She earned NTJCAC Player of the Week Honors for an undefeated week leading up to the Region V Tournament. Williams didn't just do damage in the circle, she showed off power at the plate; hitting a pinch hit grand slam home run against Ranger. Later on the in the season, drove in another run against then top ranked McLennan. Williams finishes her career top 10 in wins, and strikeouts.
SS KK King - University of Missouri-Kansas City. King was a two year starter for the Vikings. She started out in the outfield, before making the transition into the infield, and settling in as the everyday shortstop. As a freshman, she appeared in 47 games, with six home runs. She broke out her sophomore year, with 19 home runs and 68 RBI, finishing with a .374 batting average, 13 stolen bases, while appearing in all 63 games. King had a pair of multi-homer games, hitting two in wins over Dodge City, and Tyler. She drove in a season high five runs in a win over Ranger, and had four RBI in a win over Seminole State.
Defensively, she was part of 13 double plays, and had a .935 fielding percentage. Her season earned her NTJCAC Defensive Player of the Year Honors, 1st Team All-Conference, All-Region 5 North, NFCA 2nd Team All-American and NJCAA 2nd Team All-American. King has several spots in the Grayson College Record Book. She is top-10 in both single season home runs, career home runs (25)
All together, the Vikings had five players sign with Division I Universities (Jenkins, Moses, Franklin, Robles and King), and four sign with Division II Univerisites (Williams, Wood, Jones and Reh)
