Esports launches second season

After breaking into the e-Sports world for their inaugural season last fall, the Grayson College Esports squad began its spring season in February.
The Vikings will compete in Call of Duty on Tuesdays at 6 pm, and Overwatch 2 on Wednesdays at 5pm.
The spring semester features 10 players, and the seven-week season began on Feb. 20, and will conclude on April 6.
Grayson competes in the NJCAA-E, and opponents for each match will be announced each week.
The Vikings are coached by Shantee Siebuhr, who also serves as the Director of Student Life and Development for Grayson College.
"With the addition of Call of Duty this semester, we are excited about the start of our Tier 2 Spring Season," Coach Siebuhr said. "We have a great group of student-athletes that have put in a lot of practice time, and I know they're ready to compete!"
The Overwatch 2 team was victorious in their first match of the season! They swept South Puget Sound on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
"Esports is rapidly growing in popularity at the college and university level. It provides a unique opportunity for students and it's an exciting addition here on our campus," said Dr. Jeremy McMillen, Grayson College President.
The Esports Lab is located on the first floor of the Life Center, adjacent to the cafeteria and the campus bookstore. The lab features 10 computers, and two Nintendo Switch Stations, while in the Intramural Gaming Station on the second floor of the Life Center, there is a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
