Vikings fall to Seminole State College

The Grayson Vikings hosted Seminole State College in a non-conference showdown on Monday, March 25. Though they played hard, Seminole State College was victorious, claiming the 13-2 victory.
Seminole State struck first offensively, putting up four runs in the first two innings. They loaded the bases in the third inning, but Bosten Dwinell worked around and got the Vikings out of a jam, inducing a fly ball for the third out.
The Viking offense kept fighting, putting base runners on in nearly every inning, and hit the ball hard, but ultimately it was right at a fielder.
Grayson broke through in the fifth, as Blake McCarthy launched a solo home run to right field to pull them within 4-1.
Seminole State put up four in the sixth off a two run triple, and two run home run. Still the Vikings showed fight. Trey Oblas led off the sixth with a single, and moved to third on a single from John Maldonado Jr. Jackson Harrell brought the Vikings second run across, breaking up a double play. Seminole State scored five more runs to claim the victory.
Maldonado Jr led the Viking offense finishing 3-4. McCarthy and Harrell were responsible for the RBI's in the game.
On the mound, Dwinell threw three shutout innings in relief, getting a pair of strikeouts. David Jeon, Julian Frazier and Connor Clark each threw an inning. Mason Ruiz got a pair of strikeouts as the starter over two innings of work.
The Vikings remain home on Wednesday, March 27 as Hill comes to town for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 pm and 2 pm from Dub Hayes Field.
